The Call for Abstracts?for the 24th Warwick International Conference in Applied Linguistics?(WICAL 2022) is now open! The deadline for submissions is 19 April 2022.    

WICAL is an interdisciplinary conference, organized by students for students, and is a successful tradition at the University of Warwick’s Applied Linguistics Department. Each year, we host talks and practical workshops by renowned scholars, and give a platform for undergraduates and postgraduates to showcase their research. We aim to give young scholars the opportunity to meet and learn from academics and peers from different disciplines, universities, and countries. WICAL focuses on three key areas:    

·Intercultural Communication   

·Language Teaching and Learning   

·Discourse Studies    

This year's special theme is?"Transcending Dialogues".?We aim to provide a dialogic space for all participants and invite you to discuss ways to transcend dialogues in various disciplines.   

This year, WICAL will be held online, from 28th June to 30th June 2022. We are delighted to be joined by four keynote speakers:    

·Fred Dervin, Professor of Multicultural Education, University of Helsinki.

·Judith Hanks, Associate Professor in Language Education, University of Leeds.    

· Claire Kramsch, Professor Emerita of German, University of California, Berkeley.    

·Theo van Leeuwen, Professor of Multimodal Communication, University of Southern Denmark.
